Work With Me

REST - PLAY - SOUL

BRING THREE BEATS DEEP TO YOUR COMMUNITY

Presentations, workshops, retreats, and coaching for congregations, organizations, and the people inside them who are ready to stop performing their lives and start living them.

Something is missing in most congregations and organizations. Not vision. Not effort. Not dedication. What is missing is aliveness — the felt sense that the work flows from something real, something inexhaustible, something essentially human.

Three Beats Deep names what is missing: Rest. Play. Soul. Not as programs to add, but as capacities already alive inside every person in your community, waiting to be recognized, released, and allowed to hum.

THE KEYNOTE PRESENTATION

Living All the Way Alive | 60, 75 Minutes

Most people in your congregation or organization are doing the right things from an empty place. They are performing aliveness rather than living it. This presentation does not add to their load. It names what they already carry and shows them how to use it.

THIS PRESENTATION ADDRESSES
  • Why so many gifted, committed people feel chronically depleted, and why more effort, more discipline, and more programs will not solve it
  • The three deep human capacities, Rest, Play, and Soul, that no machine can replicate and no institution can manufacture
  • The difference between the performing self and the essential self, and what it costs communities when that split goes unnamed
  • Rest as an inner resident, not an earned reward, the theological revolution hiding in plain sight
  • Play as the God-given right to creative response, how congregations and organizations lose their vitality when play is dismissed as frivolous
  • Soul as essential identity, the part of every person that cannot be reduced, replaced, or automated
  • What it sounds like when all three beats sound at once, the chord of undivided aliveness

Participants leave not with a new to-do list but with a new listening posture, able to hear what has always been playing inside them, ready to let it lead.

THE WORKSHOP

Practicing the Three Beats Together | Half Day, Full Day

Insight without practice is just a better story we tell about ourselves. This workshop moves communities from understanding the three beats to feeling them move, in their bodies, their relationships, and their shared life together.

THIS WORKSHOP ADDRESSES
  • A deep-dive exploration of each beat, Rest, Play, and Soul, as lived experience rather than theological concept
  • How your specific community has been quietly suppressing one or more of the three beats, and what that suppression is costing you
  • Guided practices for accessing each beat individually and experiencing their convergence, what the book calls the Holy Hum
  • The organizational and congregational conditions that drain aliveness, and the small, sustainable shifts that restore it
  • How Rest, Play, and Soul function as cultural values, not just personal practices, reshaping how your community hires, leads, worships, and decides
  • A communal discernment process: where are we depleted, where are we alive, and what does faithfulness look like from here?
  • Personal commitments and community covenants that participants can carry forward, actionable, embodied, and sustainable

Communities leave with a shared language, a set of practices, and a renewed sense of what they are actually for, not just what they are doing.

THE RETREAT

The Full Immersion Experience | Two, Three Days

Some things cannot be rushed. The deepest human transformation requires unhurried time in a container large enough to hold it. The Three Beats Deep Retreat is that container.

THIS RETREAT ADDRESSES
  • An extended, immersive journey through all three beats, enough time for each one to do its actual work rather than simply be described
  • The personal history of each participant with Rest, Play, and Soul, what was given, what was taken, and what is ready to be reclaimed
  • The theology of already, Rest, Play, and Soul not as destinations to reach but as native conditions already present, needing notice more than acquisition
  • Embodied practices woven throughout, silence, music, creative engagement, and unscheduled time that allows the deeper currents to surface
  • Leadership formation for pastors, executives, and organizational leaders: what it means to lead from the three beats.
  • The convergence session, when Rest, Play, and Soul sound together as a chord, and participants recognize what undivided aliveness actually feels like in community
  • A communal visioning process: how does your congregation or organization look and move when the three beats are a permanent cultural current?
  • Personal commitments, community covenants, and a 90-day re-entry practice designed to keep the chord sounding long after participants return home

Participants return not simply changed but reoriented, carrying a new center of gravity that reshapes their leadership, their relationships, and their work.

ONE ON ONE COACHING

Walking the Three Beats with Someone Who Has Walked Them | Six Sessions

Some people don’t need a crowd. They need a conversation. One on one coaching is for the pastor, leader, or seeker who senses that something essential has gone quiet in them and wants a sustained, unhurried space to find it again. This is not performance coaching. It is not strategic planning. It is the slower, deeper work of helping a person remember who they are when nobody is watching.

THIS COACHING ENGAGEMENT ADDRESSES
  • Where Rest, Play, and Soul are alive in you right now, and where they have been crowded out
  • The particular shape of your depletion, and the particular way back to aliveness that belongs to you alone
  • The hidden costs of leading from an empty place, and what it looks like to lead from fullness instead
  • Personal practices drawn from the three beats that fit your actual life, not a borrowed template
  • The moments when your essential self goes quiet, and what it takes to let it speak again
  • A sustained conversation across six sessions that deepens as it goes, building on what emerges rather than following a fixed curriculum

You leave not with someone else’s answers but with a clearer hearing of your own. The work is yours. The conversation is ours.

GROUP COACHING

A Circle of People Learning to Live All the Way Alive | Eight Sessions

There is something that happens when a small group of people commit together to the same deeper living. They hear themselves more clearly in each other’s voices. They find courage they could not find alone. Group coaching gathers four to eight people, lay leaders, clergy, executives, or seekers from any walk, for eight sessions of sustained exploration into what Rest, Play, and Soul actually look like in a shared life.

THIS COACHING CIRCLE ADDRESSES
  • Each participant’s personal history with Rest, Play, and Soul, what has been nurtured, what has been neglected, and what is ready to return
  • The common pressures that push communities and teams toward depletion, named honestly in the company of people who recognize them
  • Shared practices that the group explores together and reports back on, creating accountability rooted in curiosity rather than obligation
  • The places where Rest, Play, and Soul intersect with leadership, vocation, relationships, and the ordinary texture of each person’s days
  • A community covenant that participants shape together, a living agreement about how they intend to hold each other toward aliveness
  • The ongoing question beneath all eight sessions: what does it sound like when your particular life plays its fullest chord?

Groups finish not simply as people who took a course together but as a circle, carrying a shared language and a shared commitment to keep the chord sounding.
