1. Reflection

Sustaining Mercy

A terrifying storm is raging in and around the city
of my birth, New Orleans. My mother, my brother and
his family, and dear friends are safely evacuated.

Still, I am saddened, especially for those who could not
or would not be brought to safety. And, saddened as I think
about the places and spaces that may be vanquished, or, for
sure, changed forever.

In this ominous stillness, I imagine God's reaching hands
catching the brunt of the worst of it, and blessing those
in harm's way with sustaining mercy.

2. Quotes

"God is simply the Love that springs from universal suffering
and becomes consciousness."

                               Miquel Unamuno

"There is meaning in waiting
There will be someone or something
to help you at the trying places in your path
Unseen ground is not unsure ground
Discouragement still has courage in it
There are marvelous hidden lessons in the valley moments
Take strength from struggle
Trust your way through"
