Heartfelt Desires

In Psalm 20:4, David prays, "May [God] grant you your
heart's desire, and fulfill all your plans." What a gracious
prayer!

Having our heart's desires met is at the heart of a popular myth.
You know the myth. I'll give you a hint: "I have the power to
grant you three wishes." Yes, it's the myth of the genie in a bottle.

There are no genies or bottles in David's prayer, but there is
the savory truth that we don't have to live with our heartfelt desires
always off in the distance. God, the Loving Creator of all,
cares about our heartfelt desires, and, with our help, will bring
about their fulfillment.

Wait a minute Kirk, God needs our help on this?  Yes. You see,
you are the only person in all the world who can know your heartfelt
desires. Identifying  and claiming your heart's desires is the first step
in seeing those desires blossom in your life.

So, spend some time this week listening to your heart and
writing down your wholesome, healthy, joy-generating desires.
If you need help, use one of the following thought-lines to
get you started:

1. What I really want is....
2. It would be fun to .....
3. If I had 15 million dollars in the bank and just
10 years to live, I would....

Identify and claim your desires. Don't let David's prayer be in vain.

3. Testimony

"I've been enjoying doing the [B.R.E.W.] exercises and reading
your ideas. I love the down-to-earth approach you have. Sort of
like sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you."
