1. Reflection

10 Reasons for Beginning the Day with a Devotion

Reason #7: Celebrate Sacred Self-Is-Ness

Once, during a B.R.E.W. moment, I heard this:

Can you stand living in light?

     Can you imagine
     sustained joy,
     sharpened intuition,
     and expanded intelligence?

     Can you wield the sword
     of your own brilliance?

     Answer, "Yes."

     And watch heaven rejoice!

As I re-member these words, I receive them afresh
as a divine dare to embrace with every fiber of my
being a sense of not selfishness but sacred self-is-ness.
Give yourself permission to turn yourself loose in the
love of God. Is this not God's will for your life?

2. Quotes

"You have made them [persons] a little lower
than angels and crowned them with glory and honor."

                                       Psalm 8:5

"The water that I will give will become in them
a spring of water gushing up to eternal life."

                                      John 4:14

3. A Story from Howard Thurman

There is a story told of the musk deer of North India. In the
springtime, the roe is haunted by the odor of musk. He runs
wildly over hill and ravine with his nostrils dilating and his
little body throbbing with desire, sure that around the next clump
of trees or bush he will find musk, the object of his quest. Then
at last he falls, exhausted, with his little head resting on his
tiny hoofs, only to discover that the odor of musk is in
his own hide.
