======================================== 1. B.R.E.W. Reflection
Over the next several weeks, I will use this space to offer 10 Reasons Why We Should Start the Day with a Morning Devotion. Even five minutes can make a huge difference in your attitude and spirit as you begin the day.
Reason #1: Gratitude
The first chapter of Morning B.R.E.W. is entitled, "I Waked Up!" For several months, our son, Jared, shouted this when he was a child. Some mornings, his declaration came a few hours before we were ready to hear it. Jared said this as if waking up was an event. Well?
Today none of us holds a promissory note guaranteeing that we will be alive tomorrow--or through today for that matter. Life is a blessing! Even the down moments hold tremendous learning potential, though the pain is almost unbearable at times. Yet, discouragement still has "courage" in it.
So, take a few moments to simply be thankful. "l Waked Up!" is a great beginning.
======================================= 2. Quote
"As the sea gull lays in the wind current, so I lay myself into the spirit of God."
Howard Thurman
======================================= 3. Testimony
"Thank you for coming to IL and sharing your heart for Jesus.... I'll be looking forward to Morning B.R.E.W. I have been practicing silence as a part of my devotions for quite a while. Previously, I busied myself with reading a daily biblical quota, praying for a certain list of concerns, reading a daily meditation, etc. One day in particular, God spoke to my heart and said, "Just be in my presence!" My life hasn't been the same since!
M.E., IL

======================================== 5. Speaking of Gratitude
Thanks to Augsburg Books, publisher of Morning B.R.E.W. and the companion volume, Morning B.R.E.W. Journal, both books were a major hit at the 14th annual Religious Book Sellers Trade Exhibit in Illinois last week. Bookstore owners from around the country seemed genuinely touched and inspired by the books and their message for the world. Special thanks to Pamela Johnson, Marketing Director for Augsburg Books, for making signing all those books a fun experience. Please pray that B.R.E.W., Being Still, Receiving God's Love, Embracing Personhood, and Welcoming the Day, becomes a global blessing!

Brewfully Yours, Kirk
